1. organizer and participation

The photo competition “Is this already sustainable?” is a joint event of the KuKo e. V. photo group, the sustainability working group of the TU Ilmenau student council and the TU Ilmenau sustainability task group.

Participation is by submitting a photo by the deadline. By submitting a photo, participants accept these conditions of participation.

2. eligibility to participate

All interested persons are eligible to participate – regardless of whether they take photographs as a hobby or professionally. The competition is aimed in particular at students, employees and interested parties from Ilmenau, the region and beyond.

3. submission and requirements

  • One photo per person can be submitted.
  • The photo must be submitted as a digital image file in JPG (*.jpg) format.
  • The minimum resolution is 2362 × 3544 pixels.
  • The file size should be at least 3 MB.
  • The image material must be suitable for an exhibition in a print format of approx. 20 × 30 cm.

Post-processing of the images is permitted as long as the original photographic character of the motif is retained.

4. dealing with AI-generated content

Purely AI-generated images are excluded from the competition. Submitted entries must be essentially photographic.

AI-supported post-processing, for example for color correction, retouching or technical optimization, is permitted as long as it does not replace or significantly distort the photographic origin of the image.

5. selection, exhibition and award ceremony

The submissions will be reviewed by a jury. A selection of the entries will be presented as part of the exhibition for the Ilmenau Science Night 2026 in the university library of the TU Ilmenau in the Leibniz Building.

The best entries will be awarded prizes as part of the exhibition. There is no entitlement to publication, exhibition or an award.

6 Copyright and rights of use

The copyright to the submitted photos remains with the respective participants.

With their submission, participants grant the organizers a simple, non-exclusive, spatially and temporally unrestricted right to use the submitted images. This right of use serves exclusively for the implementation, promotion, documentation and follow-up of the photo competition.

7 Third-party rights and indemnification

The participants assure that they have taken the submitted photos themselves and that they have all the necessary rights to the photos.

If persons are recognizably depicted in the images, participants must ensure that they have obtained the necessary consent from these persons for submission, exhibition and publication.

Participants also ensure that no copyrights, personal rights, trademark rights or other rights of third parties are infringed by the entries submitted. Should third parties assert claims, the participants shall indemnify the organizers against these claims.
